MESH Engineering was contracted by Tyson Foods to design, develop and install a SCADA system for one of their Industrial Water Treatment Facilities. The system was originally a totally manual system controlled by manually starting and stopping different pumps and blowers as needed. MESH designed a PLC control system that used Allen-Bradley’s Control Logix PLC, Flex I/O, Panel View Plus Operator Interfaces and Wonderware for the PC Interface. The Control Logix PLC’s, Panel View Plus and Wonderware PC’s all reside on the main Ethernet network. This allows Tyson to easily maintain program updates and MESH to VPN into the system if needed for troubleshooting. The Flex I/O is communicating through a Device Net network. Due to the long lengths of runs all Device Net and Ethernet runs that go between buildings are Fiber. MESH also replaced and/or installed new sensors that allow us to monitor and control the process. This system not only gave Tyson a system that has greatly improved the quality and efficiency of their plant but also automatically produces most of the reporting required by the state.
