Automated Bottle Inspection System by DWFritz Automation, Inc.

Related Technologies:

This machine verifies that the bottle label is correct and that it is correctly applied. Filled bottles are transported in pucks and pass through two timing screws to provide positive positioning. Using two cameras and strobe lights on opposite sides of the conveyor, images are taken of both sides of the bottle. Each image is compared with a master vision recipe for the given product and label. Bottles that do not meet the label criteria are rejected onto a reject conveyor. Labels can be inspected using pattern matching or OCV (Optical Character Verification) criteria. The current number of recipes is greater than 300 and is only limited by network data storage. All systems use a single recipe repository.

Since the bottle colors and labels vary in color, size, and sheen, the capability to automatically adjust the strobe light color (Red, Green, Blue, or White), strobe time and intensity, brightness, contrast, threshold values, characters verified, and background color is provided. Live images and results are displayed the HMI screen for operators to view.

The system was designed and built to meet FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for electronic records. All recipes and data are controlled through passwords and information logged to and central SQL database.
