Why use web-based software?
For many types of applications, the days of installing and maintaining software on your PC will soon be coming to an end. With web-based software, all you need is a web browser, and you can instantly access your software from anywhere in the world.
For the users of Local Automation, this provides the following benefits:
There is no software to install and maintain on your office PCs.
When we release a new feature, we don't have to mail you a CD or send a technician to your office. We simply update our web server with the new release, and you instantly have it on your end.
Technical support is a snap. You'll never need to describe a problem to us over the phone. Simply tell us which webpage has a problem, and we can instantly see it in our web browser - just as you see it. As soon as we fix the problem, just refresh your page, and it's fixed on your end as well!
What happens if my internet connection goes down?
If you lose your internet connection, you won't be using Local Automation until it comes back up. However, you also won't be sending or receiving e-mails... or searching for product spec sheets... or checking baseball scores... or doing any of your other daily activities... so you might as well take a break for a while. If you can drive over to a Starbucks, the internet is there... and so is Local Automation.
How secure is my office data once it's connected to Local Automation?
Our web server has a fixed IP address (e.g. 123.456.789.012), and when you sign up to use Local Automation's Premium Features, we configure your office firewall to allow read-only connections from that address. Any other PC or device that attempts to access your databases from outside of your office will be instantly denied by your firewall.
The Local Automation web server is home to a number of popular web applications which serve more than 12,000 customers each day. All customer data is secured using the most advanced online technologies and is never disclosed to anyone outside of Local Automation.
