INOX series inductive sensors, cables and junction boxes are ideal solutions for the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries. These new sensors are primarily used for detecting objects on accumulating conveyor sections and in filling or closing plants. The sensors’ “triple range” allows installation further away from machinery, providing better protection against mechanical damage.
The INOX system is designed to withstand to the harsh environment conditions in pressure wash down processes that use caustic solutions and hot water jets for sanitizing automation. Applications include counting and positioning of metal cans, positioning of tools, conveyor positioning, detecting the presence of metal wire, and detection of the press position through thin stainless steel.
Features and Benefits
The IM12, IM18 and IM30 Inductive INOX Proximity Sensors are manufactured in a single piece stainless steel housing of 316L (V4A 1.4404). And, the INOX IM30 (30 mm unshielded) sensor can detect up to a 40-mm sensing range. In addition, with a reduction factor of up to 0.9, good detection of stainless steel and steel objects can be achieved. Plus, there is no reduction for aluminium versus mild steel. This feature makes it possible to detect commonly used metals in the food and beverage industry at a very similar range.
The M12 device plug has an enclosure rating of IP 69K – as does the swivel nut on the connection cable (available in a variety of lengths between 2 and 25 m with optional LED versions as well). The cable, contact carrier and extrusion are designed in PVC to meet the demands of the food & beverage industry. Up to 16 sensors can be connected to an INOX sensor’s distributor box. A single cable from the box to the controller transmits the data from all the sensors.

A distinction is made between incremental and absolute measuring procedures.
In the case of incremental encoders, the machine must travel to a reference point after each power-off state, as the position is not usually stored in the controller, and movements of the machine while the power is off are not recorded.
Absolute value encoders, on the other hand, also record these movements while the power is off and return the actual position at power-on. Travel to a reference point is not necessary.
All encoders are available in synchro flange and clamp flange versions. Encoders with a synchro flange can be attached to the machine by means of three clamps. Mounting with axial screws is also possible. The encoder is driven by means of a push-on coupling or a spring disk coupling. Alternatively, pulleys can also be used. The power supply for the encoder is 5 V DC, or optionally between 10 V and 30 V DC. The versions between 10 V and 30 V DC allow longer cables to be used. Most control systems supply the voltage direct from the measurement circuit.

1765 2292 2292 Vehicle Mount Terminals Phoenix Contact The VMT (Vehicle Mount terminal) are a new line of direct machine-mount PCs that include features such as wireless Ethernet connection and several mounting options.
Available with 8, 10, 12 and 15 TFT color touch screens these rugged terminals fit many industrial applications.
Depending on the application need the VMTs can be equipped with either a regular hard drive or non-rotating compact flash.
The optional embedded operating systems are so compact that they can be stored on a flash memory. In addition, embedded operating systems are stable when switched off. A PC with an embedded operating system does not have to be shut down like a standard PC. The user can simply disconnect the supply voltage.
All VMTs have a software keyboard which has all the alphanumeric keys of a standard keyboard. Five additional buttons are located on the bottom left corner of the VMT front bezel. These additional buttons allow access to the software keyboard, change task, activate the right mouse button or change the brightness of the display. Special emphasis is placed on a compact housing design and low installation depth. Due to the use of aluminum for the solid front plate and for the housing, Phoenix Contact panel PCs can also be used under harsh environmental conditions.
Only high-quality components that meet industrial requirements are used for the slot CPUs. A new generation of low-current consumption CPUs that range from 600MHz Celeron M to 1.6GHz Pentium M reduce internal heat dissipation. For added protection the panel PCs also have integrated hardware, fan, and temperature monitoring.

1763 2292 2292 Interbus Diagnostic Software Phoenix Contact The new concept for recording and providing fieldbus diagnostic data is based on long established standards defined by Microsoft. With the universal activeX-compatible INTERBUS diagnostics software Diag+ it is now possible to directly integrate a fieldbus diagnostics tool in other software applications, e.g., process visualization. Because it can be integrated in other applications, the development time previously required for creating individual fieldbus diagnostic interfaces in visualization, for programming transfer functions for diagnostic data in the control program, and also for programming evaluation functions for diagnostic data, is no longer necessary. Clear text messages and all available status information can be directly accessed by the visualization or the corresponding activeX container. Naturally, the visualization itself can further process all supplied diagnostics data. However, diagnostics software will only become a really helpful tool when user expertise in the form of clear text messages and even possible error causes are given instead of error codes. Using a knowledge database stored in the software, important notes and tips can be given for error removal. Diag+ is a diagnostics tool for all levels and areas of application. Graph WORX 32 for creating the screen interface
Trend WORX 32 for generating OPC-based trends and historical data
Alarm WORX 32 for alarm and event management
Comprehensive libraries with predefined symbols are integrated in the visualization. You can also integrate user-defined symbols with the user-friendly Drag & Drop function.
Genesis 32 is ideally suited to use with the control program PCWORX. It is thus possible to connect to the corresponding process without any problems.
With the implementation of Active X, a comprehensive tool for creating software blocks is available to the Genesis 32 user. These software blocks can be created using Windows-based programs and applications and can be reused at any time.
Visualization is freely programmable using all the functions of Visual Basic for Applications. The classification into six performance classes (day groups) enables optimal adaptation to the corresponding application. Visualization from Genesis 32 is based on the client server architecture.
