Automated Storage System New Viper Vertical Lift Module Saves Space And Time In Small Parts, Order Fulfillment, And Inventory Storage And Retrieval Operations

A leading provider of automated storage and retrieval systems, vertical storage and retrieval systems, vertical carousels, horizontal carousels, VLMs and Vertical Lift Modules, Sapient Automation, a subsidiary of MDCI, announces the New Viper Vertical Lift Module.

The new Viperô Vertical Lift Module (VLM) from Sapient Automation recovers up to 85% of the floor space, provides unequalled ergonomic access to the items and reduces order-picking labor by 2/3 in small parts and items storage and retrieval operations.

The Viper VLM is an enclosed system of vertically arranged trays, an extraction platform and computerized controls that deliver stored items to an ergonomically positioned workstation. It can hold large, irregularly shaped items, as well as totes, containers and pallets and can be fitted with tray partitions and dividers for small items.

The modular vertical design of the Viper VLM takes advantage of unused overhead space to recover floor space that can be used for value added operations. The systemís variable height adjustment feature allows it to be made taller or shorter and moved at any time to meet changes in order picking activity.

The Viper VLMís dynamic tray height sensor optimizes its storage density, automatically directing the storage tray to the least amount of space possible within the unit.

Using features such as ViperTiltô tray delivery system, LaserViperô Pick to Light System, and dual tray delivery, organizations can improve order picking productivity and throughput. ViperTilt delivers selected trays and ergonomically tilts them in the pick window for easy access to stored items.
LaserViper is a pick-to-light system that places a red dot on the item to be picked, increasing operator picking speed and accuracy. The tray and work counter move automatically to each operatorís preferred height, eliminating excessive stretching and bending. For increased system throughput, turbo dual tray delivery brings the next tray to the work counter the moment the operator is finished picking from the first tray.

The Viper VLM features a rack and pinion drive that provides high levels of positioning accuracy, even for heavy loads, and requires less maintenance than chains and belts.

Removable side panels allow 100% access for maintenance and emergency retrieval, and make the Viper VLM useable in refrigerated, freezer and other temperature and humidity controlled applications. Systems that are focused on reducing labor by 2/3, saving floor space up to 85% while providing 100%ergonomic accessible systems for applications including: order picking, manufacturing, spare parts handling, MRO, tool and die, health care, hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, retail, consolidation and institutions.

Implementing vertical storage and retrieval solutions such as the Viper VLM (Vertical Lift Module) with Sapient Automation's world class COP (Customer One Protection) Service Group gives customers assurance that their systems will perform from day one with Sapient Automation's Remote Intelligent Machine Health Monitoring System. Key information is monitored in real time by the COP Service Group in order to detect variances and anomalies which could lead to failure or performance issues. Local technicians and central COP Service Group monitors and responds accordingly to any issues that may arise. The facility service coordinator is contacted and notified and a plan on how to correct the issue is discussed and implemented. The net result is a system that is up and running for years to come.

Sapient Automation, a subsidiary of MDCI, is a leading provider of automated storage and retrieval systems that reduce leading organizations requirements for labor, floor space and inventory while dramatically increasing productivity and operational efficiencies with often a nine to 18 month Return on Investments (ROI). Industries served include: manufacturing, distribution, warehouses, healthcare, institutions, retail and wholesale organizations. The Sapient Automation technologies include the Viper Vertical Lift Module (VLM), Avenger Vertical Carousel, Hornet Horizontal Carousel, Shark Inventory Management Software, PickaMed Carousels and Spit Fire Pick Carts and pick to light systems.
