High-performance Single Board Computer Featuring Intel Core 2 Duo Processor

VersaLogic Corp., a Eugene, Oregon-based manufacturer of embedded computer products, introduced the "Mamba", an ultra-fast single board computer (SBC) on an industry standard EBX form factor. Designed around an Intel® Core™2 Duo P8400 processor, the Mamba performs at an impressive 2.26 GHz with mid-range power consumption of only 18.5 watts (typical). Mamba is an ideal solution for OEM developers working on high-speed data or graphics-intensive applications in medical, defense, robotics, and security systems markets.

"VersaLogic's new Mamba is the premium, high-performance EBX embedded solution for applications requiring high-speed processing along with extensive on-board I/O capabilities," said Len Crane, President of VersaLogic. "Advancing technology in the high-end OEM markets is driving the need for higher performance with increased I/O capabilities. That's what this board really delivers."

With an industry standard EBX footprint of 5.75 x 8 inches, Mamba is designed for applications that require extreme CPU and video processing. The Core 2 Duo CPU provides up to 2.26 GHz performance for very high-performance systems. Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® technology allows users to fine-tune the balance between power dissipation and performance. It allows adapting to performance needs while minimizing power draw and heat dissipation. Intel's GM45 + ICH9M chipset offers graphics core speeds up to 533 MHz for high-end graphics, advanced 3D rendering, high-definition video playback, and media acceleration for video CODECs. Analog VGA and LVDS flat panel video interfaces support flexible display configurations.

Basic on-board features include dual gigabit Ethernet, two SO-DIMM sockets for up to 8 GB DDR3 RAM (4 GB per socket), six USB ports, four serial ports, two SATA ports, HD audio, eUSB interface for removable flash storage, and three general purpose timers. The on-board PCI Express Mini Card socket supports plug-in Wi-Fi modems, GPS receivers, flash data storage, and other cards for added flexibility. On-board data acquisition features include up to sixteen analog inputs, up to eight analog outputs, and thirty-two digital I/O lines. A industry-standard PC/104-Plus expansion site provides access to a wide variety of expansion modules from numerous vendors. The SPX expansion interface provides low-cost plug-in expansion for additional analog, digital, and CANbus I/O.

Available in both commercial (0º to +60ºC) and full industrial (-40º to +85ºC) temperature versions, the rugged Mamba board meets MIL-STD-202G specifications for mechanical shock and vibration for use in harsh environments.

The Mamba features Phoenix Technologies' Embedded BIOS® with OEM enhancements. The field-reprogrammable BIOS supports custom defaults and the Firmbase™ software developers kit (SDK) for security, remote/network booting, and other application functions. Mamba is compatible with a variety of popular x86 operating systems, including Windows, Windows Embedded, Linux, VxWorks, and QNX.

This new product includes VersaLogic's 5+ year production life guarantee and is customizable, even in low OEM quantities. Customization options include conformal coating, revision locks, custom labeling, customized testing and screening, connector changes, and additional services.

The Mamba began shipping in September 2010 with pricing around $1,430 in OEM quantities. For additional information, visit VersaLogic Corp. at www.VersaLogic.com, email Sales@VersaLogic.com, or call toll-free 1-800-824-3163.
